Bringing Your Own Kayak or Canoe
You can paddle your own boat here as long as it has no motor. DCR lists non-motorized boating, sailing, and canoeing and kayaking among the park's activities, and a car-top boat ramp among its facilities. DCR's trail map marks a boat ramp near the boathouse and a canoe launch with parking on Cedar Street on the east side of the reservoir. Two rules matter: no motorized watercraft of any kind, and no boats at Main (Lower) Beach, which is for swimmers.
Why Paddle Here
Regatta Point describes Hopkinton Reservoir as wind-protected and good for beginners, with no motorboats, inside a 1,500-acre forested park. It mentions herons, hawks and deer among the wildlife paddlers see. Because the reservoir has no motorboat wakes, it suits first-time paddleboarders and families in pedal boats.
Sailing Lessons and Kids' Camp
Regatta Point also runs sailing lessons and a summer camp at Hopkinton for kids aged 7 to 12, with daily sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding, plus season memberships that cover its Hopkinton and Worcester locations and group outings. Details and dates are on its Hopkinton page.
Parking for the Boathouse
Rentals don't include park entry. Every car pays DCR's daily parking fee in season: $8 for Massachusetts plates and $30 for others, at the lot meter (no cash) or by the YODEL app. On summer weekends, when rentals are busiest, the park can also close temporarily once its parking is full.
